Juicing for Health

I was introduced to juicing back in 2005 after being diagnosed with Stage 2 Colon Cancer. I was raised as a meat & potatoes kinda girl. We ate steak, fried chicken, meatloaf, hamburgers and had bread and potatoes with every nightly meal.

My dad died of pancreatic cancer in 1999 and when I was diagnosed with colon cancer at the young age of 42, I found out just how much of a role nutrition plays in our health.

Ever since then, I have been on a slow but steady journey of learning how to give up all the non foods I loved so much and had been addicted to for my entire life. Things like soda, candy, starches, fast food and things that poison your body, and replacing them with healthy alternatives.

I recently got inspired to start juicing again when my daughter told me she wanted a juicer for her 34th birthday instead of flowers! She has battled health issues since she was little with her digestive system and also has other significant health concerns that I believe changing her nutrition can help drastically. so when she asked for a juicer I was ecstatic! I decided to join her journey and share this with her.

Rainbow JuiceI have been juicing for a week now and have discovered a whole new world of eating whole foods.

I have not had a cup of coffee in a week!! That in and of itself is not a small miracle! I have been addicted to coffee for years. I would even have a cup or two in the evenings before bed! It was more of a comfort than a boost.

I am sleeping better, waking up easier, and my body lets me know if I eat something that it doesn’t like and isn’t good for it. Not only that, I am down 5 lbs my first week!

I am going to be sharing my progress as well as juicing recipes and other recipes for things you can make with the juicer pulp!

My daughter Kristin and I were both inspired by the movie Fat Sick & Nearly Dead, a documentary that will open your eyes to the role our nutrition plays in our health. It is the story of Joe Cross as he goes from fat, sick and dearly dead, to fit, fabulous and now famous by going on a juicing journey. He not only transforms his life but thousands of others along the way. I highly recommend watching this movie.

I hope you will follow along, share your recipes and the things you may have experienced juicing with me as well!

Live well,
